About The Position

Rumpke is a family-owned and operated waste and recycling company that provides essential services to residents, businesses, and communities. Front Load Drivers service commercial customers on assigned routes by collecting and hauling waste or recycling materials to disposal sites or recycling plants. They operate trucks and use the forks to empty front-load containers, and may need to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings. The role involves frequent truck entry and exit, customer interaction, vehicle inspections and cleaning, and work in outdoor and other changing conditions. This position does not manage employees.

Requirements

At least a valid Class B CDL.
Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one before hire.
At least 19 years of age.
No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
No DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years, or 2 in the last 10 years.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver’s license, if applicable.
Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
Must be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Ability to read and understand a map and/or navigation system.
Excellent truck driving and maneuvering skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
Ability to travel between offices as required.
Ability to work in high-traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas and to be exposed to residential and commercial waste.

Nice To Haves

General knowledge of truck mechanics.
1–2 years of CDL truck driving experience.
Previous Front Load truck driving experience.
Waste industry experience.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely on assigned routes and/or work orders, emptying trash or recycling containers and hauling materials to a disposal site.
Routinely enter and exit the truck approximately 100–150 times per day, depending on the assigned route.
Open and secure service gates while servicing customers.
Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings as needed.
Maintain and update route and driver log sheets.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs.
Interact professionally with internal and external customers and provide excellent customer service.
Maintain the cleanliness of the assigned truck.
Visually inspect front-load containers to ensure safe dumping procedures.
Clean areas around containers when servicing customers as needed.
Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
