About The Position

Front Load Drivers service commercial customers on assigned routes by collecting and hauling waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. Drivers empty front-load containers using the truck’s forks and may need to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings. The role includes operating and maintaining an assigned truck, completing inspections and logs, and providing professional customer service. This position does not manage employees.

Requirements

At least a valid Class B CDL.
A valid DOT Medical Card, or ability to obtain one before hire.
At least 19 years of age.
No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
No DUI or OVI convictions within the last 5 years, or more than 1 within the last 10 years.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver’s license, if applicable.
Successfully complete pre-employment testing.
Ability to read and understand a map and/or navigation system.
Excellent truck driving and maneuvering skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Ability to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Ability to travel between offices as required.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed, and overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, sitting, standing, and walking.
Ability to work continuously outdoors in changing temperatures and wet or humid conditions, and in areas with dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.

Nice To Haves

General knowledge of truck mechanics.
1–2 years of CDL truck driving experience.
Previous front-load truck driving experience.
Waste industry experience.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely to remove trash or recycling from customers on assigned routes or work orders, empty containers into trucks, and haul materials to a disposal site.
Enter and exit the truck approximately 100–150 times per day, depending on the assigned route.
Open and secure service gates while servicing customers.
Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings as needed.
Maintain and update route and driver log sheets.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs.
Interact professionally with internal and external customers and provide excellent customer service.
Maintain the cleanliness of the assigned truck.
Visually inspect front-load containers to ensure safe dumping procedures.
Clean areas around containers when servicing customers as needed.
Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
