About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Austin Hills, Texas. This local, solo route serves surrounding areas and offers home-daily driving with no-touch auto-parts freight. Drivers use a day-cab tractor and 48- or 53-foot dry van trailers. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, with a 6:00 p.m. dispatch start time and 40 or more hours per week. Pay is $27 per hour, with weekly pay and earnings of $1,080 or more per week. Paid training is provided, and Ryder trains drivers on the equipment needed for the role. Drivers operate well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance support and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The role includes responsibility for making safety decisions on the road.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, including employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check and road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
