About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Austin Hills, Texas, for local, no-touch auto-parts deliveries to surrounding areas. The route is home daily and uses a day cab and 48- or 53-foot dry van. Drivers are paid weekly at $27.00 per hour and work 40 or more hours per week. Paid training is provided, including training on the equipment needed for the job. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, with a 6:00 p.m. start time.

Drivers operate well-maintained trucks described as 36 months or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers are responsible for making safety decisions and are supported by Ryder throughout their careers.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, which may include employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
