About The Position

The CDL Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished products to customers in accordance with state and federal laws. This is a first-shift position. The driver follows company and Department of Transportation requirements, maintains the vehicle according to Elkhart Transportation management policy, and supports on-time delivery by following established routes and observing traffic laws and safety regulations. Duties may vary depending on location.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
CDLA license.
Prior experience driving large vehicles, such as a box truck or similar.
Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices.
Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Comply with driver responsibilities outlined in the company DAART program and requirements of the Department of Transportation.
Maintain the vehicle in accordance with Elkhart Transportation management policy.
Operate the vehicle safely and efficiently while following company policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws.
Transport loads along established routes to the proper destination to support on-time delivery, while observing traffic laws and safety regulations.
Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading and confirm the correct load before leaving the facility.
Verify product counts while the truck is being loaded.
Obtain the correct acknowledgements, signatures, and dates for bills of lading and other necessary documentation, and return completed documentation to the Transportation Manager.
Comply with performance measures.
