About The Position

The CDL Driver is responsible for safely operating a commercial motor vehicle and providing prompt, complete collection services. The role involves inspecting the vehicle before and after operation, driving assigned routes through roads, residential neighborhoods, and alleys, operating manual or automated controls and joystick equipment, maintaining vehicle readiness, completing paperwork, and following safety procedures. Drivers are expected to communicate courteously with coworkers, dispatchers, and customers and to meet departmental productivity standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Class B commercial driver's license.
• Ability to lift or carry heavy objects as necessary.
• Meet all qualifications defined under Department of Transportation regulations.
• Clearinghouse profile required.
• Complete substance abuse testing as part of initial onboarding and random testing for continued employment.

Nice To Haves

• Garbage or recycling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete pre- and post-operation commercial vehicle checks in line with applicable regulations, including checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety devices, gauges, and other components.
• Safely operate commercial vehicles on allocated routes, including roads, residential neighborhoods, and alleys.
• Operate manual and/or automated controls and joystick equipment in compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
• Engage courteously with coworkers, dispatchers, and customers to ensure services are timely and professional.
• Monitor vehicle status to maintain operational readiness and reduce downtime.
• Complete paperwork and reports accurately.
• Meet departmental productivity standards so clients are serviced in a timely and effective manner.
• Follow and enforce safety regulations and procedures.
