About The Position

Thompson Facilities Services is dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient facilities and transportation services that support the daily operations of college campuses. Through a strong focus on safety, service, and operational excellence, Thompson Facilities Services ensures that people, materials, and equipment move seamlessly across campus. We are currently seeking a dependable CDL Driver to join our campus operations team. The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe operation of commercial vehicles to transport materials, equipment, supplies, and personnel across campus and to approved off-site locations. This role supports facilities, maintenance, logistics, and campus events by ensuring timely and secure transportation services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid CDL Class A or B license required (endorsements may be preferred depending on assignment)
  • Clean driving record with knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Ability to operate large vehicles safely in campus and urban environments
  • Strong attention to safety, detail, and compliance procedures
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection and maintenance practices
  • Ability to work independently and manage time-sensitive delivery schedules
  • Ability to communicate effectively with campus staff and operations teams
  • Must meet DOT physical requirements and maintain CDL medical certification

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of professional driving experience preferred (institutional or commercial experience a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate CDL-class vehicles (box trucks, dump trucks, utility vehicles, or passenger transport vehicles as assigned)
  • Transport supplies, equipment, and materials between campus buildings and off-site locations
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials, ensuring proper securement and handling
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety issues
  • Follow all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and campus safety policies
  • Maintain accurate logs of mileage, deliveries, inspections, and fuel usage
  • Support campus events by transporting furniture, equipment, and setup materials
  • Coordinate with warehouse, maintenance, and facilities teams for delivery schedules
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, safe, and properly maintained at all times
  • Respond to transportation needs during emergencies or special campus operations
  • Provide professional and courteous service to campus staff and partners
