About The Position

We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Day Porter to support the cleanliness, appearance, and overall maintenance of facilities at Lincoln University. The Day Porter plays a critical role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors by performing routine cleaning, light maintenance, and event support duties throughout the day. This position requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, flexibility, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced campus environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous custodial, porter, housekeeping, or facilities experience preferred
  • Experience working in schools, universities, healthcare, hospitality, or commercial facilities is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in a diverse campus environment
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead regularly
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, buffers, mops, and carts
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions when necessary
  • Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and custodial supplies in accordance with safety guidelines
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive cleaning tasks
  • Visual and auditory ability to recognize safety hazards and respond appropriately

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned campus buildings, classrooms, offices, restrooms, dining areas, common spaces, and exterior entryways
  • Monitor and restock restroom supplies, paper products, soap dispensers, and sanitation stations throughout the shift
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and surface disinfecting
  • Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and emergency cleaning requests
  • Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for campus meetings, events, and special functions
  • Assist with light maintenance tasks and report facility issues, damages, or safety concerns to management
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in a safe and organized manner
  • Follow all company safety procedures, campus regulations, and OSHA guidelines
  • Provide excellent customer service while interacting with students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Support additional custodial or facility operations as assigned by supervisors
