About The Position

The CDL Driver drives a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) to transport and deliver products, livestock, or other materials. The role may require unloading the truck and requires a commercial driver’s license. The driver is regularly required to sit and drive and to travel overnight. The position also involves physical activity, including regularly lifting up to 50 pounds and walking, standing, and bending. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CDL license.
• Current MVR.
• One to three years of previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience.

Responsibilities

• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from the loading crew, and check that the vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
• Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources and verify instructions and routes.
• Maintain logs of working hours or vehicle service and repair status in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles.
• Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
• Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and comply with state regulations.
• Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, livestock, or other materials.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
• Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
