About The Position

Ryder is hiring a part-time Class A Transfer Shuttle Driver in Des Moines, Iowa. The position pays $18.50 per hour for approximately 30 hours per week, with paid training and a Monday–Friday schedule beginning at 8:00 AM. Drivers operate a local route and return home daily, moving trucks and trailers between locations. Freight is no-touch. Equipment may include day-cab and sleeper tractors, rental equipment, straight trucks, and metro vans. Trucks are 36 months old or newer and include 24/7 roadside maintenance. Drivers fuel vehicles at Ryder maintenance facilities.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional employment or education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer-specific badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations.
• Participate in continuous training and provide customer service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.
