About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Springfield, Massachusetts. This local driving position pays $22.50 per hour, with weekly pay of $900, and offers daily home time. The schedule is Monday through Friday with a 7:00 AM start. The driver shuttles equipment between Ryder customer facilities, transporting empty trailers for equipment transfer; the freight is no-touch.

Drivers receive trucks that are 36 months old or newer and 24/7 roadside maintenance support from Ryder-trained technicians. Service employees fuel the trucks at Ryder maintenance facilities. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check, a road test, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations, completing continuous training, and providing customer service.
• Shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities, moving empty trailers for equipment transfer.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
