About The Position
Universal Logistics is seeking a CDL Class A Yard Switcher to join their team. This role involves moving trailers in and out of docks and between yards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The position is physically active, requiring drivers to frequently enter and exit their trucks. Responsibilities also include assisting Over-The-Road (OTR) drivers, verifying trailer numbers and seals against paperwork, and performing pre-trip inspections of trailers for DOT certification and general safety. Requirements
- At least 21 years old with valid CDL A
- 6 MONTHS TRACTOR TRAILER EXPERIENCE NEEDED!
- No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
- No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years
- No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years
Responsibilities
- Moving trailers in and out of docks
- Moving trailers to and from separate yards
- Complying with all GM safety regulations
- Assisting OTR drivers
- Checking trailer numbers and seals against paperwork when moving between yards
- Inspecting trailers prior to moving them for DOT cert and general safety concerns
- Report upward to Leads and security
