Drive an automotive fleet hauling freight for Michigan plants, with hiring focused on the Saginaw and Bay City area. The first load departs Michigan, and subsequent loads work back toward home, though routes vary and the trip home is not always direct. Drivers run 1,500 to 2,100 miles per week and are home every two weeks. Work includes drop-and-hook, preloads, live loads, and live unloads. Winter driving is part of the job. Drivers earn $0.50 to $0.72 per mile based on verifiable experience, averaging about $1,200 to $1,500 per week. A $1,000 weekly minimum applies during the first three months driving solo. Drivers also receive $15 per stop or $25 on short hauls. Training pays $900 per week. Pay is issued weekly by direct deposit. The hiring process includes a recruiter call to review the applicant’s license and record, followed by orientation lasting no more than two days. Hotel costs are covered, the bus ticket is reimbursed, and a $300 orientation payment is provided once hired. New CDL holders train with a mentor for three to five weeks, approximately 200 to 250 hours. Drivers with at least six months of OTR experience in the last 12 months skip mentor training and go solo after orientation. Assigned trucks average about 1.5 years old. Benefits begin after 30 days. Approved riders and one dog under 40 pounds are permitted after training. The employer is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
