Drive a dry van fleet serving one large beverage brewer, hauling finished product, packaging, and dunnage. The work includes 1,500 to 2,500 miles per week, with drivers home every two weeks. Pay is $0.50 to $0.72 per mile based on verifiable experience, plus $15 per stop, for about $1,000 to $2,200 per week depending on miles and experience. During the first three months driving solo, pay includes a $1,000 weekly minimum. Training pays $650 per week, and drivers are paid weekly by direct deposit. The work includes drop-and-hook, preloads, live loads, and live unloads, with day and night dispatch. Weekends and holidays are worked. Drivers will work through Wisconsin winters and receive training for those conditions. Each driver is assigned a truck averaging about 1.5 years old. New CDL holders train with a paid mentor for 3 to 5 weeks, approximately 200 to 250 hours. Drivers with at least six months of OTR experience in the last 12 months skip mentor training and start solo after orientation. Orientation takes no more than two days; the hotel is covered, the bus ticket is reimbursed, and $300 is paid once hired. Benefits begin after 30 days and include medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage; a 401(k); an employee stock purchase plan; paid time off; and a free online degree for the driver and one family member.
