About The Position

American Driver is offering an entry-level Class A driver trainee opportunity in Michigan. This program provides paid training for individuals new to the industry, with a clear path from student to professional driver. The training lasts 4 to 6 weeks, focusing on real freight and routes with a dedicated trainer. Trainees will learn Class A tractor-trailer operation, ELD systems, hours-of-service compliance, inspection procedures, and dispatch communication. Upon completion, drivers will handle regional dry van freight with weekly home time, ensuring full compliance with DOT regulations and accurate record-keeping.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL
• 21 years of age or older
• 120+ hours from an accredited CDL school
• Clean driving record
• Must pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class A tractor-trailer on actual routes.
• Utilize ELD systems and comply with hours-of-service regulations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection procedures.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch.
• Maintain accurate ELD logs and DVIRs.
• Complete equipment inspections before and after every shift.
• Adhere to all DOT regulations.

Benefits

• $900/week during training
• $0.56 per mile once solo
• $1,000/week minimum guaranteed for the first 3 months
• Pay grows to $0.56–$0.64 per mile after the first 3 months
• Averaging $1,200 to $1,700/week after the first 3 months
• Weekly home time
