CDL Trainee
About The Position
County Waste, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a motivated individual to join our team in Cairo, NY, as a CDL Trainee. This program offers the opportunity to attend CDL School to obtain a Class B CDL, with all schooling costs covered and paid training. The role involves a combination of site work, shadowing drivers to understand CDL requirements, and general labor duties. Customer service skills are beneficial for interacting with customers regarding safety rules and restrictions. A satisfactory driving record is required as the position involves driving a company vehicle.
Requirements
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card within 30 days of employment.
- Ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License Learners Permit within 60 days of employment.
- Ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License within 90 days of employment.
- 1 year of work experience, preferably in a labor-type position.
- Ability to continually lift throughout an 8-hour shift.
Nice To Haves
- Customer service experience is a plus.
- Mechanical ability is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Attend CDL School to obtain a Class B CDL.
- Perform site worker duties for part of the day.
- Shadow drivers to learn the requirements for obtaining a CDL.
- Perform general labor duties.
- Greet, direct, and educate customers on safety rules and restrictions in a polite and courteous manner.
