This position is for new drivers who hold a valid Class A CDL and have completed truck driving school. The driver begins with an orientation lasting two days or less, followed by three to five weeks (200 to 250 hours) of paid, over-the-road training with an experienced mentor. Training pays $675 per week. After training, the driver receives a late-model tractor and operates solo, with mileage pay starting at $0.50 per mile, a $1,000 weekly pay guarantee for the first three solo months, and a monthly performance bonus. Drivers average approximately 2,000 miles and $1,400 to $1,500 per week on this fleet. The work involves dry van freight across states west of the Mississippi, from the Northwest to Texas. Stops pay $15 each. Drivers are home every two weeks, and some weekend work is part of the job. The fleet is open to new drivers from St. Helens, Scappoose, and lower Columbia River towns. After training, drivers may bring one approved dog weighing up to 40 pounds and may apply for the adult rider program. Benefits begin after 30 days and include medical, prescription, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) and stock purchase plan; life, disability, accident, and critical illness options; and tuition-free online degree study for the driver and one dependent.
