This entry-level CDL-A driving role delivers grocery store freight in the Capital Region. The freight is no-touch, so drivers do not unload the trailer. Drivers average about 2,000 miles per week and $1,500 in weekly gross pay, with an additional $10 for the first stop, $15 for each subsequent stop, and $15 extra on short runs. Drivers earn $850 per week while training. New drivers complete up to two days of orientation, followed by four to six weeks of training with a mentor. During training, drivers ride with their mentor and are not guaranteed nightly home time. After training, drivers operate their own truck. Schedules include five- or six-day work weeks, or longer stretches with home time arranged in advance. Drivers who live within 200 miles are home weekly for a 34-hour reset and may take the truck home. Day and night shifts are available; weekends, holidays, and winter driving are part of the job. Applicants must hold a Class A CDL and be at least 21 years old. They must have either a CDL school certificate documenting at least 120 hours or six months of recent experience, meet the stated driving-record standards, and pass a DOT physical and hair and urine drug screening. Benefits begin after 30 days. The company covers the orientation hotel, reimburses the bus ticket, and provides $300 once hired.
