In this role, you will support service-related activities including new development and configuration, system and application maintenance and support, multi-project delivery, technical consultation and expertise, Electronic Information Management (EIM), customer relationship management, and compliance with Government of Alberta (GoA) standards, policies, and practices, enabling ministries across the Government of Alberta to work more efficiently, safeguard vital information, and deliver essential services Albertans rely on every day. Technology is evolving rapidly, and so is the way we deliver public services. Success in this role requires curiosity and a willingness to embrace emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance service delivery, improve decision-making, and drive innovation. Experience using AI tools, or the ability to quickly learn and apply them responsibly, will be an asset in helping shape modern digital services for Albertans.

Requirements

  • University graduation in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of directly related experience.
  • Experience developing, administering, and supporting solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies.
  • Experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting SharePoint Online solutions, including SharePoint Framework (SPFx), custom web parts, extensions, React, TypeScript, Microsoft Graph, and Microsoft 365 service integrations.
  • Experience integrating solutions across Microsoft 365, Power Platform, cloud services, APIs, and on-premises systems.
  • Knowledge of application integration, APIs, authentication methods, and secure solution design practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues across cloud platforms, automation solutions, APIs, infrastructure, and AI-enabled services.
  • Experience with scripting, automation, administration, and system support activities.
  • Knowledge of software development principles, system design, problem solving, and application lifecycle management practices.
  • Experience in applying Electronic Information Management (EIM), records management, information and data governance practices.
  • Experience in support system upgrades, disaster recovery planning, and production readiness activities.
  • A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized postsecondary institution and four (4) years related experience; or
  • A related one-year certificate from a recognized institution and five (5) years related experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in project and time management, with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting automation and AI-enabled solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of AI concepts and best practices, including large language models (LLMs), prompting, grounding, retrieval, evaluation, and responsible AI.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse business areas and partners to troubleshoot technical issues, assess business requirements, and understand complex Government of Alberta processes and workflows.
  • Strong consultation and collaboration skills, with experience working effectively with Communications, Information Management, and FOIP stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and deliver practical, client-focused solutions within a complex environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications and databases that support critical government services.
  • Design and implement secure, high-quality solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Support the reliability and performance of 24/7 business-critical systems.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and prevent application and database issues.
  • Collaborate with business partners to analyze requirements and recommend effective technical solutions.
  • Contribute to system design, architecture, testing, releases, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Apply Electronic Information Management (EIM) best practices to ensure effective records, information, and data governance.
  • Provide technical guidance to clients and stakeholders across government.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, cloud services, automation, and industry best practices to continuously improve service delivery.
  • Support system upgrades, disaster recovery planning, and production readiness activities.
