Catholic Elementary Teacher
About The Position
Regina Caeli Academy is seeking part-time elementary teachers to teach 3rd or 6th Grade in a classical and Catholic classroom at its center in Lapeer, Michigan. Classes are self-contained, and teachers teach all subjects. Teachers also assist with or lead one or two specials, such as art, music, PE, and/or drama. The academy provides the curriculum, lesson plans, grading guidelines, and training in instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required. Teachers must prepare for classes at home and arrive ready to teach in a highly structured environment. The positions are hourly, up to 14 hours per week, with classes on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Childcare/nursery is provided. No additional vacation days are given; accommodations are made for sick days as needed. All employees must pass a clear background check and complete mandatory training before working in the classroom. Applicants must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and live the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received the sacraments appropriate to their state in life.
Requirements
- Must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and have a deep love for the Catholic faith.
- Must be living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to their state in life.
- Strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
- A traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
- Must complete mandatory training and pass a clear background check.
Nice To Haves
- Experience homeschooling or working with homeschooled children.
- Experience in Catholic parish ministry or teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes.
- Experience teaching one’s own children.
- Experience teaching in a classical or private school.
