About The Position

Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time assistant for classical and Catholic elementary classrooms at its West Valley center in Phoenix, Arizona. The center serves families in central Phoenix and the West Valley. The role is hourly, up to 14 hours per week, with work on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:40 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Childcare and nursery are provided. Regina Caeli Academy is a national classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition that offers instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting. Teaching certification and formal teaching experience are not required; training, curriculum, and grading guidelines are provided. Tutors are trained to teach and manage classrooms according to RCA standards. Applicants must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and live the Catholic faith day to day, including having received the sacraments appropriate to their state in life. All staff must complete a clear background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching. No additional vacation days are provided beyond the academy's listed vacation and holy days; accommodations are made for sick days as needed.

Requirements

A love for babies and toddlers.
Ability to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and a deep love for the Catholic faith.
Living the Catholic faith day to day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to one's state in life.
Strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
A traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
Clear background check.

Nice To Haves

Experience homeschooling or working with homeschool children, caring for children or babysitting, Catholic parish ministry, teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes, teaching one's own children, or teaching in a classical or private school. These experiences are not required.
Teaching certification and formal teaching experience are not required.

Responsibilities

Assist in classical and Catholic elementary classrooms.
Provide instruction and classroom management according to Regina Caeli Academy standards after training.
Complete RCA Safe Child training before teaching.
