About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Carbondale, Illinois. This position is ideal for an RN with strong cardiac catheterization lab experience who is comfortable supporting both diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. The nurse will work closely with interventional cardiologists, technologists, anesthesia providers, and other members of the cardiovascular team. Candidates with more than 2 years of recent Cath Lab experience are strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license meeting Illinois practice requirements
  • Current BLS certification
  • Recent Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience
  • Strong cardiovascular assessment skills
  • Experience monitoring patients during invasive cardiac procedures
  • Ability to respond appropriately to cardiac emergencies
  • Strong communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
  • Ability to participate in required call coverage

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of recent Cath Lab RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients before, during, and after cardiac catheterization procedures.
  • Perform pre-procedure assessments and verify required documentation, medications, allergies, and laboratory results.
  • Prepare patients for invasive cardiovascular procedures.
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures, including cardiac rhythm, vital signs, oxygenation, and clinical status.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and procedural sedation within scope of practice and facility policy.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and respond quickly to cardiovascular emergencies.
  • Provide post-procedure monitoring and recovery care.
  • Assess vascular access sites and identify bleeding, hematoma, or other complications.
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Participate in procedural time-outs and patient-safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, Cath Lab technologists, nurses, and other clinical staff.
  • Maintain sterile technique and follow infection-control standards.
  • Support emergency and urgent Cath Lab procedures while on call.
