About The Position

Cascade Hotel Kansas City, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is seeking a Catering Sales Manager to join their Sales & Events team. This role is crucial for driving catering revenue, cultivating client relationships, and orchestrating exceptional event experiences, all while contributing to the hotel's overall success. The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional with a strong sales acumen, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for creating unforgettable events. They will manage events from the initial contact through to successful execution, collaborating with clients and internal departments to ensure seamless, high-quality experiences.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in catering sales, hotel sales, event management, or related hospitality experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client needs simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Sales, Operations, Food & Beverage, and leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and sales/event systems.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client, guest, and hotel information.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Maintain professional appearance, grooming, and hospitality standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • Marriott brand experience.
  • Experience with hotel catering systems, CRM platforms, and BEO processes.
  • Experience working in a full-service, lifestyle, luxury, or boutique hotel environment.
  • Experience managing both corporate and social events.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new catering business through proactive sales efforts, networking, community relationships, and lead follow-up.
  • Manage catering and social event opportunities from initial inquiry through event completion.
  • Conduct property tours and showcase hotel spaces, amenities, and event offerings to prospective clients.
  • Create proposals, contracts, event details, and other client-facing documentation.
  • Develop customized event experiences based on client needs, goals, and budgets.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for catering clients throughout the planning process.
  • Partner with Culinary, Food & Beverage, Operations, Rooms, and Sales teams to ensure successful event execution.
  • Create and maintain accurate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring details, pricing, and operational needs are communicated effectively.
  • Attend BEO meetings and collaborate with operational teams to ensure event readiness.
  • Monitor event details, timelines, and client expectations to ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Support on-site event execution and client needs as required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate accounts, social clients, local organizations, and community partners.
  • Identify opportunities to increase catering revenue and maximize event space utilization.
  • Maintain accurate records, sales activity, and client information within CRM and sales systems.
  • Develop vendor relationships and maintain updated vendor resources.
  • Provide outstanding service while representing Cascade Hotel Kansas City professionally in the community.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
