About The Position

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to drive business for the Catering Department. This role involves direct client interaction, contract negotiation, and overseeing the operational aspects of catering events to ensure client satisfaction and efficient departmental functioning. The manager will also be involved in menu creation, forecasting, and staff supervision.

Requirements

  • Experience in sales, preferably in catering or hospitality.
  • Ability to develop and conduct sales presentations.
  • Skills in negotiation, contract preparation, and writing.
  • Proficiency in using automated sales systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to direct and supervise staff.
  • Client interaction and needs assessment skills.
  • Menu development and creation abilities.
  • Forecasting and revision skills for annual and monthly plans.
  • Compliance with attendance rules and regular availability for work.

Responsibilities

  • Tour and inspect banquet and meeting space daily, reporting necessary repairs.
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Schedule and assign specific duties to associates for efficient operation of the Catering Department and coverage of functions.
  • Solicit new accounts and review previous banquet files to generate business.
  • Oversee service of group functions once they are in house.
  • Write banquet menus, memos, and send out amenities for VIP Guests.
  • Review and revise Catering Department weekly events sheets and banquet event orders.
  • Formulate and make revisions to annual and monthly forecasts.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and write contracts and enter information into the automated sales system.
  • Interact with clients to determine needs and direct staff accordingly.
  • Respond to telephone and walk-in inquiries of potential guests.
  • Create special themes and menus.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
