About The Position

Groovin' Gourmets, the catering division of Trolley Hospitality Companies, is seeking a Catering Event Chef for the Hampton Roads region. This role is responsible for all aspects of kitchen setup, food preparation, presentation, and breakdown for various events including corporate functions, weddings, and social gatherings. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment, takes pride in delivering beautiful and delicious food, enjoys teamwork, and is energized by the catering event atmosphere.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of culinary experience in a catering, banquet, or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, presentation techniques, and food safety practices.
  • A team-focused mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • The ability to thrive in diverse environments, including indoor and outdoor event venues.

Responsibilities

  • Unload and set up kitchen or prep areas efficiently at the beginning of each event.
  • Assist with creating visually appealing and well-organized food and action stations.
  • Plate and present dishes with precision and care, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Engage with guests professionally at live action stations (e.g., carving or pasta stations) while delivering exceptional service.
  • Collaborate with the catering team to ensure smooth and efficient service from start to finish.
  • Break down and clean prep areas at the end of the event, leaving the venue spotless and organized.
