About The Position

At the Delta Hotel by Marriott Phoenix-Mesa, we strive to provide Purposeful Service: a perceptive and intuitive staff that know what guests need and when. The Catering Specialist reports directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing. The Specialist is tasked with driving the property’s business through proactive and reactive sales and marketing efforts to achieve revenue and service goals; assists DOS in developing and implementing property-wide strategies that deliver products and services designed to successfully grow the property’s market share. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: This position will combine catering and group sales with a strong focus on local catering. Approaches sales as a “hunter” through direct sales solicitation with a mix of in person, telephone calls, and emails to shift and increase market share.Conduct site inspections, participate in FAMs, entertain prospective and existing clients, conduct outside sales calls and attend appropriate trade shows and local client events, to actively network, raise the hotel’s profile, and secure new business. Develops long-term relationships with clients or potential clients by maintaining consistent verbal and written communications and providing excellent customer service. Analyzes requirements of business opportunities. Research and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers. Responds to all group and corporate RFPs in a timely manner, creates proposals and executes contracts.Analyzes and understands internal and external reports to identify and secure new accounts. Achieve or exceed quarterly production goals based on assigned markets. Travel may be required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Hotel and Restaurant Management
  • 2 years’ experience in hotel sales and marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Marriott Full-Service systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly responsible and reliable.
  • Ability to remain calm while under pressure
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
