About The Position

Our patients are our number one priority! We're committed to giving children back their childhood! This is an on-site position, not remote/hybrid, located in Dallas at the hospital. The Catering Coordinator will prepare and deliver food, drink, and snack ordering services for meetings, conferences, and events across hospital locations. This role involves supervising outside catering vendors, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, sanitation procedures, and food safety standards. The coordinator will utilize scheduling and event management systems, communicate effectively with various stakeholders, and manage incoming deliveries. Maintaining compliance with Texas food safety regulations and organizational health standards is crucial. The position requires ensuring catering kitchen areas, equipment, and service areas remain clean and organized, while upholding professional communication and customer service standards. Responsibilities also include tracking attendance, expenses, invoices, and preparing monthly catering reports. Coordination with Environmental Services for linens, room setups, and special event requirements, as well as managing rental equipment and supplies, are key duties. The role may also involve assisting with the development of banquet recipes and performing other assigned duties to support hospital events.

Requirements

  • High School graduate, Associates degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in hotel or hospital catering
  • Self-direction; requires little or no supervision
  • Food Service Handler with the State of Texas within 60 days of hire.
  • Must be flexible regarding hours and days of the week
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to variable work hours and event demands

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver food, drink, and snack ordering services for meetings, conferences and events across hospital locations.
  • Supervise all outside catering vendors ensure compliance with hospital policies, sanitation procedures and food safety standards, including proper dish machine usage.
  • Utilize scheduling and event management systems, including Resource Scheduler, Event Master, and Microsoft Office Suite for event coordination, tracking and reporting.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with meeting organizers, administrative assistants, hospital departments, and external vendors to meet event service needs.
  • Receive, inspect, sort, and organize incoming food and beverage deliveries while ensuring proper handling, storage, and inventory rotation using FIFO methods.
  • Maintain compliance with Texas food safety regulations and organizational health standards.
  • Ensure catering kitchen areas, equipment, coffee urns, and service areas remain clean, sanitized, and organized.
  • Maintain professional communication, customer service standards, appearance, and conduct during all catering and event activities.
  • Track attendance counts, event expenses, invoices, and actual charges incurred for catering functions.
  • Prepare and submit monthly catering reports and cost summaries to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
  • Coordinate with Environmental Services regarding linens, tables, room setups, and special event requirements.
  • Schedule and manage rental equipment and supplies through approved rental vendors as needed.
  • Assist with the development and standardization of banquet recipes in collaboration with the IT Registered Dietitian (RD).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the operations and success of hospital meetings, conferences, and special events.
