About The Position

Home Team BBQ provides on and off-site catering opportunities for our customers as well as many special events HTBBQ participates in. A Catering Captain with HTBBQ would need to have the ability to organize, communicate, and lead the catering staff through a successful event. This position is the main point of contact for the scheduled event. A Catering Captain motivates staff while providing a positive, cohesive team to deliver Home Team quality of service. In addition to leading the team, this position is tasked with being aware of the correct use and maintenance of all catering equipment.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of Banquet/Catering experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have ability to communication with proper grammar in English.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, delegate work and follow through.
  • Able to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Computer knowledge and typing skills required.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others.
  • Demonstrates honesty and integrity.
  • Leads by example. Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors.
  • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Past supervisory experience is preferred.
  • TIPS training is preferred.
  • Previous special event/catering management experience is ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Train, implement, and maintain proper procedures for all events with support staff
  • Communicate needs for events with Catering Director
  • Communicate with Back of House (BOH) for location of food for loading and when returning, where and how to properly put food and dishes away.
  • Lead by example and motivate staff daily on procedures required
  • Monthly inventory of all catering equipment (on or off property)
  • Prepare pack outs/checklists for vending, full services and oyster roasts
  • Maintenance of catering vehicles (gas, oil changes, cleanliness)
  • Review of catering staff/events with Catering Director and Catering Sales Managers
  • Updating pack outs based on needs from events with Event Director
  • Employee related issues/complications
