About The Position

The Catering Associate is responsible for patient food service on assigned units, including menu selection, tray assembly, delivery and pickup, special requests, and between-meal food delivery. The associate works with nursing departments, clinical dieticians, and other personnel to provide patient service. The role requires banquet experience and includes weekend work; days and hours may vary. The listed location is Duke Mansion in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Responsibilities

Communicate with nursing departments, clinical dieticians, and other personnel to provide patient services.
Introduce the “Catering to You” program to new patients using scripted methods.
Take patient menu selections before meals and offer allowed alternatives in accordance with prescribed diets, food allergies and sensitivities, and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.
Assemble trays according to patient menu selections and tray tickets, and retrieve trays from patient rooms.
Comply with applicable regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO standards.
Follow facility confidentiality and patient-rights policies, including HIPAA policies and procedures.
Follow HACCP guidelines when handling food, cleaning work stations, and breaking down the patient tray line.
Follow facility and department infection-control policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
