Casual Youth Counselor - Connellsville, PA
About The Position
Casual Youth Counselors will actively participate in the daily schedule of youth activities, including meal times, cleanup, daily chores, and laundry. They will observe individual, group, and family counseling sessions, as well as court appearances, providing assistance with note-taking or other support activities. Counselors will observe youth behaviors and discuss appropriate interventions with more experienced personnel. They will establish credibility by demonstrating positive behaviors and teamwork. In the event of medical, safety, or other residential crises, counselors will assist in physical restraints and support team members by following instructions. They must be able to apply first aid or CPR and support first responders and youth during emergencies. Counselors will learn routines, regulations, and safety protocols, noting and helping to correct non-compliance issues. They will support and promote trauma-informed care to create a safe environment and use practical work experience to reinforce theory related to client confidentiality (HIPAA). Counselors will also assist in transporting youth using motor vehicles, acting as a driver or support resource, and learn computerized systems for employee self-service, time reporting, scheduling, training, company intranet, and security.
Requirements
- Safely perform physical interventions and restraints with individuals who may weigh 200+ pounds, using approved techniques.
- Stand, walk, and respond quickly throughout the shift.
- Successfully complete and maintain certification in Adelphoi’s crisis intervention / restraint training and pass any required physical abilities assessment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

- Able to apply first aid or CPR and to support first responders and youth in the event an emergency requires immediate action.
- Learns routines, regulations and safety protocols. Notes out of compliance items and works with more experienced personnel to correct.
- Supports and promotes trauma informed care as a guide for creating a safe and non-violent environment for the clients in our care and the staff who care for them.
- Uses practical work experience to reinforce theory related to client confidentiality for HIPAA, etc.
- Assist in the transport of youth using motor vehicles as a driver or support resource following agency protocols for seating and monitoring of youth.
- Learns computerized systems related to, employee self-service, time reporting, scheduling, training, company intranet, security, etc.
