Casting Team Lead - Night Shift

About The Position

The Casting Team Lead reports to the Production Supervisor and assists with and coordinates the activities of workers in the Casting cell. The role has wide freedom to drive activities to completion by energizing and engaging associates. The Team Lead models and enforces environmental, health, safety, and quality performance; supports casting operations as needed; monitors production, scrap, and X-ray throughput; and helps resolve issues or escalates them using the help chain. The role also coordinates crew communication, shift handoffs, training, required documentation, and continuous improvement in the assigned area.

Requirements

Must be able to read and understand work instructions.
Must be able to write and complete required paperwork.
Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Must be knowledgeable about quality systems.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Must be team-oriented and able to problem-solve and troubleshoot.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience working in a cell operation or equivalent operation.

Responsibilities

Model and enforce environmental, health, safety, and quality performance.
Ensure all product containers and racks are properly tagged.
Post applicable quality alerts and purges at the casting cell and ensure direct reports are informed.
Operate casters as needed.
Monitor scrap and production rate, instruct operators, correct issues, and pull the help chain when needed.
Meet frequently with the assigned crew to discuss quality issues, productivity objectives, and related topics.
Ensure required paperwork is complete, including daily inspections, checklists, scrap tracking, and downtime tracking.
Monitor X-ray throughput, correct issues, or pull the help chain as needed.
Communicate with the adjacent-shift Team Lead to ensure a smooth transition and address all issues.
Oversee training for the assigned line and acknowledge training completion.
Drive continuous improvement in the assigned area, including process flow, efficiency, 5S, quality, and safety.
Ensure proper 5S in assigned areas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
