About The Position

The Cashier serves customers promptly, courteously, and in a friendly manner, helping enhance AC&T’s image and make each shopping experience profitable and pleasurable. This posting is for openings across AC&T’s 17 locations. The role maintains customer relations and service, follows store procedures and policies, supports inventory and vendor control, and safeguards money, equipment, records, and other company property. The Cashier helps keep the store clean and well merchandised, follows applicable state and federal laws and food-service regulations, and reports emergencies or accidents to the Store Manager. The position is accountable to a Supervisor or Manager on a shift-to-shift basis and does not have authority to set prices, make cash expenditures, or obligate the company through contracts or similar arrangements.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old or have a work permit.
Be able to speak, read, understand, and write English.
Be able to perform mathematical calculations for making change, completing shift reports, and accounting for products during vendor check-in.
Have sufficient visual sharpness to check customer identification when necessary.
Be able to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers and other equipment.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds, including cases of beverages, at least once per shift.
Be able to react to a fire by lifting and carrying a 20-pound fire extinguisher to the fire area.
Be able to bend to pull up a 20-pound metal plate from an underground storage tank.
Be able to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
Be able to climb a ladder to clean windows.
Be able to sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, lift and carry trash containers, and clean the store’s surrounding grounds and bathrooms.
Be able to work in a 38°F cooler for up to 15 minutes at a time.
Be willing to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

Maintain proper customer relations and provide courteous, friendly service.
Maintain contact with the Store Manager and follow authorized store hours.
Follow store procedures and policies, including security, reporting, and check-cashing procedures.
Maintain inventory control and vendor control during the shift.
Safeguard monies, equipment, store records, and other assigned AC&T property.
Follow manager-established guidelines that do not conflict with company policies.
Maintain a clean, well-merchandised store in accordance with the Store Manager’s standards.
Follow state and federal laws regarding alcohol and tobacco sales, lottery ticket sales and redemption, and food service.
Abide by company rules and regulations.
Immediately report emergencies and accidents to the Store Manager.
Serve food from a food case maintained at a minimum of 140°F.
Stock shelves and coolers; perform cleaning and groundskeeping tasks, including cleaning bathrooms and the parking lot.
Communicate by telephone and/or store intercom.
