About The Position

Convenience store cashiers provide fast and friendly customer service while ensuring accuracy at the sales counter. They scan items, verify prices and quantities, and collect payments. The role also includes stocking and cleaning duties, helping customers find merchandise, following loss prevention guidelines, and working as a member of the store team.

Requirements

• Basic math and computer skills.
• Knowledge of point-of-sale systems, cash handling, phone etiquette, basic sales, and the industry.
• Customer service skills, a positive attitude, and a friendly, approachable manner.
• Self-motivation, ability to multitask, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to grasp, bend, twist, and squat.
• Ability to regularly move, lift from a minimum height of 4 feet, and carry at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders, and remain on one's feet for the entire shift.
• Ability to push and pull a heavily loaded pallet using a manual pallet jack and to push and pull a loaded stock cart.
• Minimum age of 18.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of retail cashier experience.
• N.M. Food Handlers Permit; the employer will certify.
• Navajo speaking.

Responsibilities

• Operate checkout equipment and accurately count money and make change.
• Operate tools and equipment safely.
• Perform general stocking and cleaning duties.
• Comply with loss prevention guidelines.
• Greet customers politely and help them find merchandise or provide information.
• Follow supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits, and attitude.
• Work cooperatively as a team member.
• Adhere to the daily work schedule.
• Work weekends, any shift, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
