About The Position

The Cashier receives money from and disburses money to customers while maintaining a high level of customer service. The role involves accurately identifying items and costs, processing sales and customer transactions, and maintaining the cash register and sales area. The Cashier works physically in the unit and must be able to stand for the entire workday.

Requirements

• Partial high school education; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Mathematical skills.
• Excellent sanitation habits.
• Professional appearance.
• Ability to communicate with and attend to guests at a high standard of service.
• Ability to pass cash handling training.
• Problem sensitivity and ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management.
• Ability to read and write work-related documents in English.
• Ability to understand customers and coworkers and speak clearly in English.
• Ability to communicate verbally with employees in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
• Physical attendance in the unit to perform duties.
• Ability to stand for the entire workday.

Responsibilities

• Identify items and their costs and quickly and accurately tabulate bills using a cash register, calculator, or other price equipment.
• Accurately issue receipts, refunds, credit, or change to customers.
• Maintain the cash register and its contents.
• Turn in the cash drawer and sales reconciliation at the end of shifts.
• Smile and greet customers entering the unit, answer questions, and provide information about company products, promotions, and policies.
• Thank each customer.
• Keep the cash station clean and orderly and stock and maintain the sales area with supplies and products.
• Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the retail operation.
• Stay aware of safety issues and report them immediately to the manager.
