About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate serves customers, operates the register, and helps keep the store clean, safe, stocked, and running smoothly. The role includes sales and customer service, age verification and legal compliance for lottery, cigarette, and alcohol transactions, and maintaining the store’s interior and exterior, including restrooms, gas pumps, parking-lot areas, and entryways. Associates may be cross-trained in other departments, including deli, and help wherever needed.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Must be willing to work hard and remain on their feet for most of a shift.
Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
Friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, responsibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and operate the register accurately and quickly.
Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
Provide friendly service and upsell when possible to increase sales.
Keep the inside and outside of the store clean and safe.
Deep-clean high-use restrooms.
Wipe down and sanitize gas pumps, including nozzles, screens, and water buckets.
Pick up litter and trash from floors and the lot area.
Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep merchandise fresh and full.
Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain entryways and store organization.
Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
Follow safety procedures and company policies.
Work as a team member and help wherever needed.
