About The Position

The Cashier/Sales Associate serves customers and helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and well stocked. The role includes operating the register, assisting with sales, complying with legal requirements for lottery, cigarette, and alcohol transactions, and maintaining both indoor and outdoor areas, including restrooms, gas pumps, and the parking lot. Associates may be asked to cross-train in other departments, including deli, and help wherever needed. Full-time and part-time schedules are available.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be willing to work on their feet for most of a shift and indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
• Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
• Friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
• Attention to detail.
• Punctuality, trustworthiness, and responsibility.
• Adaptability and willingness to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
• Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
• Provide friendly customer service and upsell when appropriate.
• Deep-clean high-use restrooms.
• Wipe down and sanitize gas pumps, including nozzles, screens, and water buckets.
• Pick up litter and trash from the store floor and lot area, and take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep merchandise full and presentable.
• Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain store entryways and other areas.
• Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
• Help team members and step in wherever needed.
