About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, safe, inviting, and running smoothly while providing friendly customer service. The role includes operating the register, selling lottery, cigarette, and alcohol products in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements, offering customers additional products when appropriate, and maintaining merchandise displays. Associates clean and sanitize store areas, restrooms, gas pumps, and entryways; remove trash indoors and outdoors; and work in all weather conditions. They may cross-train in other departments, including the deli, and are expected to follow company policies, work reliably as part of a team, and assist wherever needed. Prior retail or customer-service experience is appreciated but not required.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be willing to work hard and remain on one's feet for most of the shift.
- Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Must have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal-history background check.
- Must be personable, positive, detail-oriented, reliable, responsible, and adaptable.
- Previous retail or customer-service experience is appreciated but not required.

Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while complying with age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly service and upsell when possible to increase sales.
- Clean and maintain the store interior and exterior, including restrooms, gas pumps, floors, windows, entryways, and lot areas.
- Sanitize gas pump nozzles, screens, and water buckets.
- Pick up litter and trash and take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep merchandise fresh and full.
- Cross-train in other departments, including deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Work as a team member and help wherever needed.
