About The Position
The Cashier/Sales Associate helps keep the store clean, inviting, safe, and running smoothly while providing friendly customer service. The role includes operating the register, handling regulated product sales in compliance with age-verification and legal requirements, stocking merchandise, and maintaining the interior and exterior of the store. Associates may be cross-trained in other departments, including the deli, and help wherever needed. The position involves indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions, frequent standing, and physically demanding cleaning and stocking tasks.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be prepared to stay on their feet for most of the shift and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Ability to frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel welcome.
- Attention to detail.
- Punctuality, trustworthiness, and reliability.
- Adaptability and willingness to handle varied tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail or customer service experience is appreciated but not required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and operate the register accurately and efficiently.
- Handle lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales while following age-verification and legal requirements.
- Provide friendly service and upsell customers when possible.
- Deep-clean high-use restrooms.
- Clean and sanitize gas pumps, including nozzles, screens, and water buckets.
- Pick up litter and trash from the store floor and parking lot.
- Take trash to the dumpster in all kinds of weather.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays.
- Sweep, mop, clean windows, and maintain store entryways and other areas.
- Cross-train in other departments, including the deli, as needed.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Help teammates and step in wherever needed.
