About The Position

This is a merit hire position with an hourly rate of $20.20 per hour, covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Dauphin County Department of Mental Health, Autism, and Developmental Programs is seeking applications for a full-time, first shift (8:00 AM- 4:00 PM) Caseworker 2. Existing Crisis Intervention Program Caseworker employees are encouraged to apply. Due to departmental needs, staff may be required to work shifts other than their assigned shift, including nights and weekends. The Caseworker 2 is responsible for providing immediate response to a wide range of life crisis situations for individuals in Dauphin County within a 24-hour emergency Crisis Intervention program. This role involves utilizing casework skills to gather essential information, offering counseling to consumers and their families, and assisting them in accessing available resources. The position also requires the application of problem-solving techniques, providing counseling to optimize service delivery and achieve service plan goals, monitoring consumer behavior, and collaborating with agencies within the local service network. Work is conducted in accordance with established regulations, policies, and procedures. The Caseworker 2 exercises initiative and judgment in performing their duties. Performance is reviewed by a professional social service or administrative supervisor through regular individual and group conferences, as well as case record and report reviews. In addition to the stated hourly rate, this position may be eligible for a retention bonus after one (1) full year of employment.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a human services major such as sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.
  • One year of professional experience in a public or private social services agency.
  • A valid driver’s license and positive driving record at the time of hire.
  • A favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references.
  • Proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire (or an alternative form of identification if not eligible for a PA driver's license and driving is not an essential function).
