About The Position

Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP) is a private, non-profit, social service agency serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping individuals and families facing substance use disorders, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity, and respect. The Serenity House program is a recovery house for 12 women with co-occurring substance abuse and psychiatric disorders, who may also have a history of trauma. Residents participate in various psycho-educational groups covering life skills, parenting, employment search, anger management, relapse prevention, health and wellness, safety, and coping skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years experience in counseling preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of social service case management.
  • Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, mental health, and trauma.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the provision of quality case management.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Valid Connecticut drivers license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Co-occurring competencies and/or credentials are preferred.
  • Incumbents may be encouraged to secure professional certification (e.g. CAC and/or SCCD).

Responsibilities

  • Assess and record medical, psychological, and social factors contributing to the individuals' unique circumstances, including an assessment of strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
  • Plan and record the individuals' progress with regard to finances, employment, nutrition, basic needs, housing, physical, mental health, well being, including any identified substance use disorders.
  • Assertively link person served to community resources and other natural supports.
  • Serve as an advocate for clients in obtaining necessary services.
  • Attend and actively participate in appropriate case management and treatment team meetings.
  • Record and monitor recovery plans and perform follow-up to determine quantity and quality of services provided.
  • Facilitate weekly groups.
  • Adhere to RNP standards of documentation.
  • Compile, prepare and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Assume all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
