An overview of this position entails: this position is responsible for implementing the pre-plea process for youth who are before the District Court with the goal of reducing the Average Daily Population (ADP) for youth in detention, by providing intensive case management for all juveniles screened, completing court reports, assessments, screening and bed management.

Requirements

  • A total of four (4) years of related experience in Case Management with a minimum of two years of experience must be in juvenile justice, human services, or related field.
  • Education in a related field may replace up to two (2) years of experience.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Certificate from Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI Training)
  • Hilltop’s Transportation Certification

Responsibilities

  • Complete required assessments to include but not limited to; The Colorado Youth Detention Screening Instrument (CYDSI) Arizona Risk-Needs Assessment (ARNA), Pre-screen Colorado Juvenile Risk Assessment (Pre-Screen CJRA) on all juveniles screened and enter data into TRAILS and SAVIO as required by statute.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to include; detention hearing reports according to requirements of the Colorado Revised Statutes Children’s Code (19-1-107), pre-trial assessment forms as required by the courts, weekly updates on all youth in detention beds, assessments to the courts at advisement of charges hearings and Emergency Release plans. Complete required documentation and actively participate in the Individual Services & Supports Team (ISST) and Family Engagement Meetings (FEM), or any other team meeting for placement and services review. Additionally, this position may be required to provide live updates or recommendations in court and other inter-agency meetings.
  • Provide intensive case management and tracking services: attend court hearings, linking families with community services, document all client contacts, facilitates or attends meetings related to court, school, employment, Department of Human Services, Probation, or other appointments, administers drug screenings, and ensuring youth are complying with established curfews, etc.
  • Consult and inform parents of their child’s status in the judicial system and facilitate their involvement and navigation within the judicial process.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with community agencies, work collaboratively to support the best interest of the child, and demonstrate knowledge of interagency collaboration, mandates & procedures.
  • Professional conduct, dress and language during all interaction(s) with any agency or persons involved with the juvenile.
  • Maintain and protect client confidentiality.
  • Manage caseload to produce professional work, meet deadlines, and provide effective case management.
  • Provide on-call screening for law enforcement agencies; including scheduled nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis. On-Call duties include alternating weekly daytime on-call (8a-5pm), evening on-call (5pm-8am). Weekend on-call shifts may be scheduled, beginning Friday evening at 5pm through Monday at 8am.
