About The Position

The U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office for the District of Arizona is seeking a Temporary Case Administrator - Dispatcher. This role is crucial for supporting officer safety during community contacts. The position may be full-time remote within Arizona, with traditional and non-traditional hours. The dispatcher will monitor officer safety using a web-based dispatching program. Remote work depends on maintaining performance standards and home system compatibility. If office work is required, the dispatcher will report to the nearest office. Dispatch operations run from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on some weekends and holidays. Dispatch hours are subject to change, with this posting primarily covering evening and weekend shifts. The position is subject to annual budget approval.

Requirements

  • High school graduate (or equivalent).
  • Two years of general experience (progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the possession of, or the ability to acquire, the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position).
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based operating systems and standard office or web-based applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic software, connectivity, and user-level technical issues without assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public safety communications, dispatch operations, or other roles involving real-time coordination of field personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a communications or dispatch environment requiring multitasking, prioritization, and rapid decision-making.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems and internet-based applications, including the ability to independently troubleshoot routine technical issues.
  • Ability to monitor and manage radio communication systems, maintain situational awareness, and accurately document activities.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to both emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to accurately log, recall, and relay critical information.
  • Ability to interact professionally with law enforcement personnel and other stakeholders while providing consistent, reliable support.
  • Experience in positions requiring the use of computer systems, communications equipment, or fast-paced electronic communications between multiple parties.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees officers conducting fieldwork utilizing a web-based dispatch program to track their status and location.
  • Utilizes radio designators, ten-codes, and plain talk to communicate with officers via the Wave PTX radio system.
  • Records the time and location for all officer field contacts.
  • Tracks when officers start and end their service in the field.
  • Monitors the time an officer is on-scene and conducts periodic status checks on officers as outlined by the dispatch protocols.
  • Responds to officer requests over the radio for non-urgent or emergency assistance.
  • Coordinates welfare checks, backup officers or emergency response by outside law enforcement.
  • Communicates vital information to the officer’s chain of command in the event of an emergency or a non-responsive officer.
  • Conducts criminal records checks, warrants checks, vehicle registration checks, and any other items as requested by officers while performing community contacts.
  • Update internal databases during downtime (i.e., SIRS, PACTS, ATLAS, USSC database etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned, depending on workflow.
