About The Position

The Cart/Range Assistant provides custodial care, maintenance, and cleaning for the golf cart fleet. The role also involves interacting with golfers and vendors to answer questions or obtain and distribute information, along with other assigned manual labor tasks. The position stages and stores carts, performs and records minor repairs, cleans carts and the cart barn area, and operates related equipment. Employees must follow Standard Operating Procedures and Furman University policies and regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, with no experience required; alternatively, one year of related maintenance or manual-labor experience may substitute for the diploma.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
• Knowledge of golf and minor cart repair.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
• Knowledge of air compressor, ball washer, and ball picker use.
• Skill operating gas- and electric-powered motorized equipment.
• Ability to maintain shop and repair records.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide and properly position golf carts in the designated area; return them to the cart barn at closing, ensure they are charged, and secure the barn.
• Perform minor cart repairs as needed, including checking tire pressure, and notify supervisory staff of major repairs.
• Record and communicate minor and major repairs by cart number.
• Clean carts nightly and deep-clean their bodies and undersides quarterly.
• Operate the air compressor, ball washer, and ball picker.
• Clean and maintain the areas outside the cart barn.
• Perform other related maintenance duties and assigned manual labor tasks.
• Interact with golfers and vendors to answer questions or obtain and distribute information.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and ensure conduct complies with Furman University policies and regulations.
