About The Position

As the Carpenter, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities that will assist in all aspects of the construction, maintenance and repair of the production facility, office buildings, housing and production equipment in all other locations of the plant. As a Carpenter, you must be skilled in reading blueprints, estimating materials, and following building codes.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in basic carpentry skills, such as measuring, cutting, and joining wood.
  • Ability to use various carpentry tools and equipment safely and efficiently. To include but not limited to pipe or tube cutters, hammers, punches, measuring devices, wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, power saws, pullers, measuring devices and chisels.
  • Skill in reading and understanding blueprints and construction plans.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to identify and resolve carpentry-related problems.
  • Attention to detail to ensure the quality of carpentry work.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members, including engineers, and production staff.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and management.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions and priorities.
  • Dependability and trustworthiness in fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to solve problems and overcome challenges.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Basic carpentry with some mechanical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of general tools and functional handyman repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair facility wall and ceiling systems.
  • Set up and operate wood working tools and all common hand tools to cut, form, and finish material for the construction or demolition of an assigned project.
  • Install wood or metal parts and repair or refinish walls or structures.
  • Install glass or replace broken glass, dismantle roofing or window siding.
  • Prepares scaffolding as needed to complete projects safely.
  • Touch-up or do incidental painting after structure repairs.
  • Ability to operate various types of lift equipment such as forklift and other driven machinery.
  • Able to implement safe work procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.
