About The Position

Upscale Remodeling is seeking an experienced carpenter to join their residential remodeling team. This is a hands-on role for an individual who values quality craftsmanship, can work independently, and contribute to a team. The company handles a variety of projects including kitchens, bathrooms, additions, renovations, and custom carpentry. They are looking for individuals with strong residential carpentry skills who are seeking steady employment with a professional remodeling company that prioritizes craftsmanship. The role involves collaborating with design, production, fellow carpenters, and office teams to plan, build, and complete projects. While independent work is expected, it is a team-oriented position requiring communication, accountability, and a commitment to project and team success. Responsibilities include managing and executing remodeling and construction projects, coordinating with subcontractors, serving as an on-site liaison, reviewing project scope and conditions, delegating and performing construction tasks, collaborating with team members and subcontractors, enforcing safety guidelines, providing daily job logs, addressing client concerns, and maintaining a smoke-free work environment. Leadership is expected, emphasizing honesty, humility, a level-headed approach, people-orientation, and quality-mindedness. Team members are encouraged to collaborate, prioritize departmental needs, and be flexible with scheduling. Maintaining company professionalism standards and sharing knowledge are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

• Minimum of eight (5) years of carpentry experience with expertise in all phases of residential remodeling and construction procedures.
• Proficient in rough carpentry, including floor, deck, wall, and roof framing, as well as layout knowledge of foundations, rafters, and stairs, and structural load-path understanding.
• Experienced in finish carpentry, including trim work, cabinetry installation, and interior finishes.
• Strong communication skills, able to effectively interact with clients, team members, vendors, and specialty trade contractors.
• Capable of both following direction and providing leadership, supervision, direction, mentoring, and teaching to other team members.
• Excellent listening and comprehension abilities, along with proficiency in understanding construction drawings, scopes of work, specifications, contracts, and business correspondence.
• Willingness to adapt to and embrace new technology, apps, and software relevant to the industry.
• Keen eye for quality and a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
• Valid NYS driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute assigned remodeling and construction projects, coordinating with subcontractors and working independently or under the direction of production leadership, as appropriate.
• Serve as the on-site liaison for Upscale Remodeling, keeping all team members in the field and office up to speed with project progress, and client needs.
• Review project scope, details, site conditions, and client expectations comprehensively. Delegate, assist with, and perform designated construction tasks as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and subcontractors, assigning tasks with clear timelines and expectations.
• Enforce company and industry safety guidelines for all team members and subcontractors.
• Provide daily job log photos to BuilderTrend project management app/website.
• Address client questions and concerns promptly, aiming to have the appropriate party respond to the client within 24 hours.
• Maintain a smoke-free work environment at all times.
• Lead by example. Be honest, humble, levelheaded, people-oriented, and quality-minded.
• Demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with fellow Carpenters on multiple projects, prioritizing departmental needs and maintaining flexibility with scheduling and staffing.
• Maintain and reinforce the company’s standards of professionalism among all team members and subcontractors.
• Take opportunities to learn from fellow team members and share knowledge and skills with others when appropriate.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance daily.
