About The Position

Preferred Care at Home of Monmouth and Ocean County is seeking compassionate and reliable fill-in caregivers to provide temporary, flexible support to clients in their homes. Caregivers cover for regular caregivers to help maintain continuity and quality of care. The role serves seniors and individuals with disabilities and involves personal care, companionship, and support for clients’ well-being and independence. Cases range from 20 to 35 hours per week, with shifts available on short notice and hours varying according to client needs.

Requirements

• Prior caregiving, home health, or related experience is preferred but not mandatory; training and ongoing support are provided.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in helping others and building meaningful relationships.
• Ability to follow care plans and instructions while exercising independence and good judgment.
• Reliable transportation to travel to client homes in Toms River and surrounding areas.
• Clearance of a background check and any certifications required by state regulations.
• Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends, based on client needs.
• Physical ability to assist clients with mobility and perform light housekeeping tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized in-home care, including help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to reduce clients’ loneliness and isolation.
• Monitor clients’ home environments for safety and comfort, and report concerns or changes in condition to the care coordination team.
• Provide medication reminders and basic health monitoring as directed by healthcare professionals and care plans.
• Keep accurate, timely documentation of care provided and noteworthy client observations.
• Communicate with clients, family members, and the Preferred Care at Home team to support seamless service delivery.
• Be available on short notice to cover shifts for regular caregivers.
• Assist clients with mobility and perform light housekeeping tasks as needed.
