About The Position

Mom's Home Care is hiring a caregiver for an active, independent woman in her 80s who is in the early stages of memory loss. The role is an 8-hour weekday day position, Monday through Friday, in Brentwood, West Los Angeles. The client has a busy social calendar that includes outings with friends, physical therapy, and doctor’s appointments. The caregiver should help her stay on schedule while respecting her independence and remaining patient and calm if she pushes back. The caregiver will provide support with daily activities and companionship in the client’s home, drive her to appointments and activities, prepare meals, perform light housekeeping, and walk and care for her small, friendly dog. The client’s family depends on daily updates, so the caregiver must use WhatsApp to follow the posted calendar and report on appointments and activities. This is a W2 agency position with Mom's Home Care.

Requirements

Dementia experience.
Own a reliable car, a valid driver’s license, and vehicle insurance.
Comfort using WhatsApp daily.
Strong communication skills and a compassionate demeanor.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Patience, calmness, kindness, and ability to build trust with strong-willed clients.
Two years of previous caregiver experience or experience in a related field is preferred.
First aid knowledge and CPR certification are a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and mobility support.
Monitor vital signs as needed to help ensure client health and safety.
Provide companionship and emotional support.
Drive the client to appointments, errands, activities, and outings.
Maintain a clean and safe environment, including light housekeeping.
Walk and care for the client’s small dog.
Help the client follow her posted calendar and schedule without taking over her day.
Use WhatsApp daily to send the family updates about appointments and activities.
