Awake Overnight Caregiver – Additional Day Shifts Available | Albert Lea
About The Position
Freedom Home Care is hiring a compassionate, patient, and dependable in-home caregiver to provide one-on-one care for an individual living with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in Albert Lea. The position includes an awake Sunday overnight shift from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with opportunities for daytime shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and additional shifts based on client needs and availability. Caregivers must remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout overnight shifts. The role offers consistent scheduled hours with an established client. Caregivers receive a client introduction and care-plan review before working independently, along with paid in-person orientation and ongoing coaching, education, and support. Required online pre-employment training is approximately 10 hours and unpaid. Freedom Home Care describes its support as including office staff, nurses, and Caregiver Leads, and emphasizes clear communication and personalized one-on-one care.
Requirements
- Be dependable, compassionate, and patient.
- Be comfortable staying awake and alert throughout overnight shifts.
- Be able to follow established routines and individualized care plans.
- Have strong communication and observation skills.
- Have a valid driver's license.
- Have a reliable vehicle and current auto insurance.
- Be able to pass a required background study.
Nice To Haves
- Caregiving experience is preferred.
- Experience supporting individuals with TBI or neurological conditions is a plus, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive care throughout awake overnight shifts.
- Follow individualized routines and care plans.
- Assist with personal care and activities of daily living.
- Support safe mobility and transfers.
- Provide companionship, patience, and reassurance.
- Complete light housekeeping and other assigned tasks.
- Monitor and report changes in the client's condition.
- Accurately document care provided.
