About The Position

The Caregiver provides one-on-one support to older adults and other clients in their residences in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Caregivers follow personalized care plans and provide practical assistance and companionship so clients can live safely, with dignity, and as independently as possible. The role includes personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands and transportation, and monitoring and documenting client needs and activities. The position offers flexible scheduling and support from a team. Home Instead serves Aberdeen and the surrounding region with personalized, relationship-based care, helping aging adults remain safely and comfortably in their own homes.

Requirements

A caring, respectful attitude toward older adults and people with varying needs.
Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to follow a detailed care plan.
Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A valid driver's license and dependable transportation for client errands and appointments.
Physical ability to assist with transfers, mobility, and routine household tasks.
Willingness to complete required training and background screening.

Nice To Haves

Prior caregiving or Home Health experience is valued; applicants willing to learn are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support.
Provide companionship through conversation, shared activities, and emotional support.
Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when needed.
Perform light housekeeping, including laundry and tidying, and help maintain a safe living space.
Provide medication reminders according to the established care plan.
Assist with errands, grocery shopping, and transportation to appointments.
Monitor clients’ conditions and promptly report changes to the care team.
Accurately document daily activities and observations.
