Caregiver for 20yr old - flexible scheduling

Family Relief Resources•Maywood Park, OR
•$23 - $25•Onsite

About The Position

Family Relief Resources (FRR) provides person-centered daily care to families and clients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The organization is seeking a caring, patient, dependable, and gender-affirming Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support an almost 20-year-old transgender man in Northeast Portland. The client has cerebral palsy, scoliosis, and autism, and experiences pain with walking. He enjoys conversations about animation, creative interests, and other topics that matter to him. The DSP will help the client develop independent living skills, confidence, and self-advocacy while supporting his goals at home and in the community. Tasks may include budgeting and money management, tracking expenses, making purchases, meal planning and preparation, household management, daily routines, and organizing and personalizing his living space. The DSP will also encourage community involvement, hobbies, and recreational activities, and provide mobility support as needed while promoting independence. This is individualized work in the client’s home and community; FRR does not operate a physical facility, and activities take place in those settings. The schedule is three days per week, with four-hour shifts, and is open to discussion with the client and family. DSPs must maintain their assigned schedule, communicate reliably with the client’s family and agency, and complete daily progress notes and quarterly progress reports. Visits are tracked using GPS verification through a timekeeping application, so a smartphone is required. The role also involves driving the client to activities and appointments when needed.
